Join us in our Sharpen Your Sword Challenge!
An individual and age-divided Scripture memorization challenge running until the end of October. Each child can participate by memorizing a verse for a portion of the sword. Once memorized, each child must recite off the verse before church from 9:40-9:55 at the sign-in table and after church if there is no Children’s Church. If Children’s Church is being held, we will also be signing off during class. Our heart is to encourage kids to put the Word of God in their hearts and truly use it for their warfare. As such, verses may be asked to be repeated to encourage true memorization as a review.
Each verse – child earns a piece of candy and puts the sword piece on the wall
Each 5 verses – child earns big candy bar or small toy
Monthly winners by class – Donuts for class
Overall class winner – $10 gift card to Suz E Qs for each child who participated in the winning class

In this time of disruption and uncertainty, the Vessel Community Church wants to offer resources for you to meet some of your children’s spiritual needs. Here are some helpful sites we have found to assist you with family worship, discussions, crafts and even answering questions through God’s Word.
Three Thirty Ministries Family Devotions: Great ideas to combine activities with learning Bible principles from build a fort, treasure hunts to spoon catapults.
Cooking up Family Devotions with Your Kids: Psalm 34:8 invites us to, “Taste and see that the Lord is good.” Begin in prayer, read a passage of Scripture, and discuss its meaning as you follow the recipe and prepare the food.
Bible Bookmarks: 8 verses to print off and memorize as a family
Choose Joy – a study of Philippians: There are 7 lessons in this series and each lesson has 6 days of questions regarding the book of Philippians. Great to use as a family devotion.
